"... where INDEPENDENT artists shine!"

"Does Bill Cosby use tough love or is he just a bully? Dr. Boyce Watkins and Joseph C. Phillips (formerly of the Cosby Show) debate the merits of Bill Cosby's critiques of the black community."

I noticed this commentary and challenge to the masses on another medium host.

This article addressed what has become a very popular and controversial issue since its commencement.

Dr. Bill Cosby has been noted as being very negatively opinionated about the African-American Community and its downfalls. Some find the opinions to be very inappropriate, unfair, presumptuous, as well as prejudice.

What say you?

How do YOU view Dr. Cosby's outlook on the AA Community?

Is he doing what should have been done a long time ago by injecting a little Tough Love into the A-American Community by drawing out its flaws and airing to the world its weaknesses? Or is he being a bully, by only pointing out the negatives?

The day after Bill Cosby held the forum in Dallas they played it in its entirety on the radio. I opened up for M. E. Dyson in Dallas for the book signing of Is Bill Cosby Right. That was the subject of the day. Mr. Dyson and I were on opposite sides on this discussion. i did not find any falsities in Mr. Cosby's discussed Forum. My opinion is we as a people has adopted a world view in a world we have yet to be accepted in. It took 44 presidents just to give one of color a opportunity. We will defend our country at all cost but sit idle and watch as our community is destroyed from inside out. Our neighborhoods are being destroyed by our neighbors and to have someone of notoriety place the truth in Black face to me would be the only way it would be heard. We as a people need a stern talking to, not that it would change much at least the light is on. Everybody has laundry that could use a rewashing that doesn't mean their present discussions are cloudy by past indiscretions. Often our past lead to an awakening of present solutions. I think we all need to listen again to the forum then voice a new opinion on the matter. I will... Thank you Ms Crystal J. you are the spark that lights my mind. Keep up the great work.

The last time I checked Bill Cosby was Black. With that He, You & I know the problems with Black people. Why I say that? because I've been there and know that Black people are their worst enemy.

It's 2009 and 40 years since Dr. King died and in that 40 year period we have seen that when Black people get educated and an opportunity they become some of the most incredible people in our society. We have seen most of that on TV in professional sports and in entertainment but now we are seeing Black people in government leadership positions and they will perform as spectular as the athletes & talented people.

Bill Cosby is right, you know also in the past 40 years Black on Black crime has killed more of us than any thing the "So Called White Man" has done. You know when slavery started it was Black men selling their Black brothers. Black on Black crime didn't start in Nickerson Gardens-Watts, Harlem, Turner Court (Bon Ton) Dallas and in every major city in the US there are those.

It's basically a society of illerate, un educated, drug addics, criminals & single mothers raising 4 + kids on WELLFARE.

Like I said I've been there I know what it's like.

Dr King was my inspiration to make something of my life and I did.

Now Barack Obama is that Black Superstar but not on the basketball court __well maybe sometimes he'll have a pick up game at the Whitehouse hehehe.

So my point is a large percentage Black people are still in the projects mentally & physically and the key to getting out is education. America has an open door to learning institutions and when a person from another country gets an opportunity to go to school here they take full advantage.

It is very simple just finish high school, IT's FREE maybe get some college.

So I'm sure that some of you reading this will agree and probably know someone or even have a family member that is still Getto in the brain.

Mr. Cosby is absolutely right in his criticisms of the black community as a whole. His opinions are viewed negatively because his previous public persona was as a comedian only, not someone to be taken seriously. Now suddenly he seems to be coming on so strongly with his criticisms that it puts folk on the defensive like, "who the hell is he to talk to me that way". The message gets lost in the delivery and the focus is put on the tone. Doesn't help that his adulterous dealings came out about the same time as he started speaking out. The tendency of our people is to dismiss things someone says if one's own house is not in order.
