That's a good question. I thought about this in my reading tonight. Saint Peter is described as Prince of the Apostles. Peter is considered a model Christian because of his sinful human nature, his failings are treated as symptoms of man's state of sinfulnes or weakness which he overcame through his faith in Jesus.
